BLOG BANNER FOR SKIN CAMOUFLAGE

WHAT IS SKIN CAMOUFLAGE?

What is cosmetic camouflage?

Skin camouflage also known as cosmetic camouflage is designed to effectively mimic the natural skin colour whilst covering discolouration and/or scarring. Skin camouflage products are matched to the wearers natural skin colour. When correctly applied, the products are water resistant, which allows the wearer if required to go swimming without it moving or melting off. It is suitable for use on a variety of different skin issues and concerns such as scars, vitiligo, birthmarks and tattoos. It is safe for people of all ages and skin types.

Camouflage products differ in compostion and texture to ordinary cosmetics. Once correctly applied and set they are transferproof, and should last for around 8 hours, if not longer. They are available in a vast range of different colours and options. It is a great non invasive solution for people if they just want to conceal something temporarily for a special event, such as a wedding or job interview. It is easy to use and with the right training or application from a skilled camouflage practitioner it can provide all day, water resistant coverage.

Camouflage can also be used to minimise any bruising or discolouration of healing skin, post operatively. Cosmetic camouflage is not suitable to be applied to broken skin, open wounds, bacterial or fungal infections, or any undiagnosed skin condition.

In the example shown below you can see a tattoo that I have covered. The first image shows the tattoo before it is camouflaged and the second image shows the area after the camouflage has been applied. If you would like to see some more examples of this type of camouflage you can see my Pinterest board here.

It is suitable for a wide variety of different issues and concerns, such as:

  • Stretch marks
  • Tattoo coverage
  • Birthmarks
  • Rosacea
  • Scarring
  • Melasma/Chloasma

how can it help, want to find out more?

Proper application of skin camouflage is essential to achieve optimal results.  I would recommend booking a consultation with a experienced camouflage practitioner such as myself to discuss your individual needs. This will ensure that you get the most suitable products and skin match. During a consultation I will assess your skin tone and advise on the best product selection for you, to book this service just click the link below. Once the correct skin match has been decided I can then either show you how to apply and remove the camouflage yourself or you can book the camouflage service. This can be included as part of a bridal package or a hair and makeup package for a special event.

If you would prefer to learn how to use the products yourself there are many kits available to buy with samples of everything you will need. However, if you are not sure of the most suitable skin match or product it could be an expensive mistake.

what does a consultation involve?

As a professional makeup artist and skin camouflage technician I'll work closely with you to understand your concerns and preferences. As our skin is unique  in its appearance, tone and texture it is necessary to try out the different camouflage products on your actual skin to see which will work the best for you. Once it is applied the camouflage will warm and mix with your skins natural oils, causing the texture and shade to adjust.  I will assess your skin and we'll work together to select the best camouflage products tailored to your specific skin concerns to create a seamless, natural-looking finish.

I hope this blog post has helped you to understand cosmetic camouflage and how it can help. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
